On August 9, 2022, a plenary (expanded) meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Xicheng District Committee was held, delivering the guiding principles of the relevant documents and meetings of the Central Committee and the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee. At the meeting, attendees reviewed the 2021 work report and the 2022 key tasks of the Leading Group for Improving Xicheng District's Role in Building the Center for International Exchanges, and listened to the report on Xicheng District's work on indicators set for the monitoring and evaluation system for improving Beijing's role as an international exchange center. Sun Shuo, Secretary of the CPC Xicheng District Committee and Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Xicheng District Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting pointed out the need to enhance the political stance and the sense of responsibility and mission in doing foreign affairs work; thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, approach foreign affairs work from a political perspective, bear in mind the big picture of the Party and the country while planning Xicheng District's foreign affairs work, and act, without compromise, on the decisions made by the Party Central Committee and fulfill the requirements of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.
The meeting called for focusing on key tasks and making every effort to improve Beijing's role as the center for international exchanges; strengthen the regular work mechanism to deliver quality services for major national events, improve the environment in key regions, explore and cultivate quality and featured venues for diplomatic and foreign affairs events, advance the building of an international language environment, improve international public services, and facilitate international business and travel; and establish a leading group for improving Xicheng District's role in building the center for international exchanges to further optimize the organizational structure and clarify the division of responsibilities.
The meeting called for deepening pragmatic cooperation and promoting high-level regional opening-up; performing the function as the national financial management center by holding the Financial Street Forum and Beijing Summit on Fintech and actively participating in large-scale events such as the China International Fair for Trade in Services and the China International Import Expo, so as to make the district more international and expand its global influence; further promoting the reform to streamline administration and delegate power, improve regulation, and upgrade services to create an enabling environment for living and working; and enhancing the ability of international communication to present the world a Xicheng District as part of the attractive ancient Chinese capital and a cosmopolitan place.
The meeting emphasized that we should follow the leadership of the party and make steady progress on the foreign affairs work; the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Xicheng District Committee should focus on the central task of economic development and serve the overall interests of the country, promoting the foreign affairs work in all areas of Xicheng District; the Office of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Xicheng District Committee should steer and coordinate by promoting, inspecting, and supervising key tasks; party committees (party groups) at all levels in the District should take the lead in foreign affairs work and make coordinated efforts across Xicheng; leaders and officials at all levels should strictly abide by the rules and regulations of foreign affairs.
