On August 1, the fourth plenary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Fengtai District Committee and 2022 plenary meeting of the Leading Group for Improving Fengtai District's Role in Building the Center for International Exchanges was held. Following the guiding principles of the fourth plenary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the fifth plenary meeting of the Leading Group for Improving Beijing's Role as the Center for International Exchanges, the attendees studied and reviewed the 2021 work report and the 2022 key tasks of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Fengtai District Committee, and the 2022 key tasks of the Leading Group for Improving Fengtai District's Role in Building the Center for International Exchanges. Wang Shaofeng, Secretary of the CPC Fengtai District Committee, Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Fengtai District Committee, and Head of the Leading Group for Improving Fengtai District's Role in Building the Center for International Exchanges, presided over the meeting.

The meeting emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on Beijing, better support the external work of the party and the country, and promote regional economic growth by doing a good job in foreign affairs; work hard to improve Fengtai District's role in building the center for international exchanges and complete to a high standard the key tasks of improving Beijing's role as the center for international exchanges in 2022; implement the plan for Beijing South Central Axis Area and accelerate the construction of the first phase of the International Culture and Science Park on Southern Central Axis; and accelerate the construction of major projects such as Lize City Terminal and advance the high-quality development of Beijing Lize Financial Business District to make it more international.

The meeting pointed out the need to elevate the quality and efficiency of foreign exchanges, develop the featured brand of Lugouqiao to continuously improve the international image of Fengtai District; cultivate and introduce more world-renowned brands as well as cultural, entertainment, and fashion elements, and create more small but quality international stores and commercial zones with distinctive features; and coordinate epidemic prevention and control with foreign exchanges, innovate methods of communication with international sister cities, and promote foreign exchanges both online and offline.

The meeting called for strengthening coordination in foreign affairs work; giving full play to the role of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Fengtai District Committee in overall planning, coordination, supervision and implementation; and redoubling efforts to build a team of foreign affairs officials with strong professional competence and a global vision.
