On August 9, the fourth plenary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Shunyi District Committee and the first plenary meeting of the Leading Group for Improving Shunyi District's Role in Building the Center for International Exchanges was held. The attendees communicated and studied the guiding principles of the fourth plenary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the fifth plenary meeting of the Leading Group for Improving Beijing's Role as the Center for International Exchanges, reviewed the Working Rules and Office Working Rules of the Leading Group for Improving Shunyi District's Role in Building the Center for International Exchanges, and the key tasks of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Shunyi District Committee and the Leading Group for Improving Shunyi District's Role in Building the Center for International Exchanges in 2022, and reviewed in written form the 2021 Foreign Affairs Work Report of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Shunyi District Committee.
The meeting pointed out the need to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, understand that everything matters in foreign affairs, focus on the two imperatives, which is achieving the strategic goal of national rejuvenation and overcoming the unprecedented challenges unseen in a century, bear in mind the country's most fundamental interests, and take concrete actions to set the stage for the Party's 20th National Congress.
It was emphasized in the meeting that Shunyi District should take solid steps to promote the foreign affairs work while ensuring ongoing foreign-related Covid-19 response; leverage the location advantage of the district where the Beijing Capital International Airport is located and use the platforms for opening up to hold various international exchange activities and attract more foreign investment; provide a quality internationalized environment and good services, improve the language environment for international exchanges, promote the building of high-level international talent communities, and redouble efforts to build supporting facilities including international schools, hospitals, and commercial zones; and keep improving the service mechanism for major national events in light of the new situation and changes, so as to complete to a high standard the tasks assigned by the Central Committee and the Beijing Municipal Committee and make new contributions to China's overall diplomatic work.
The meeting underscored the need for Shunyi District to continuously advance regional development to be more international, and make good use of the monitoring and evaluation system for improving Beijing Districts' role in building the center for international exchanges to achieve new breakthroughs; focus more on the actual effect of serving economic and social development, accelerate the construction of key projects such as the second and third phases of the China International Exhibition Center (new venue) and the China-Germany Industrial Park, hold HICOOL Global Entrepreneur Summit and Entrepreneurship Competition, and ensure smooth progress in all work; provide organizational and logistical support for conferences and activities such as China International Fair for Trade in Services and World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference, further leverage the favorable policies of the "Two Zones" to attract international organizations, and keep improving the environment for international talent; and always prepare for the worst-case scenario and remain alert, strengthen consultation on areas with key foreign-related risks and important venues, keep improving the ability to properly handle various incidents, and create a better environment for high-quality regional economic and social development.
