Haidian District: “Fireside Dialogue with Diplomats” UK Session Held

On May 21, Haidian District hosted the “Fireside Dialogue with Diplomats” UK Session. Participants from relevant district departments and enterprises held in-depth exchanges with representatives from the British Embassy in China on areas of shared interest, including sci-tech innovation, industrial collaboration, talent development, and enterprises’ global expansion.

Anthea Heffernan, Counselor for Regional Cooperation at the British Embassy in China, gave an overview of the UK’s innovation ecosystem and distinctive strengths in higher education, science parks, and research institutions. She said that the British side stands ready to maintain regular contact with Haidian District, support enterprises from both sides in investment cooperation and partnership building, and continue to deepen friendly exchanges between the two sides.

Fengtai District: Ambassadors’ Spouses and Diplomats Visit Lize Financial Business District

On May 15, ambassadors’ spouses and diplomats from 15 countries visited the Lize Financial Business District in Fengtai District. They toured the Beijing International Flower Show—including its core exhibition area and the featured Fengtai Joyful Learning Park Curriculum zone—as well as Leeza SOHO, gaining an immersive experience of Fengtai’s horticultural culture, achievements in educational innovation, and vitality of urban development.

At the core exhibition area of the 2026 Beijing International Flower Show, the foreign guests were immersed in the distinctive horticultural atmosphere. Inside the exhibition hall, they were captivated by a dazzling display of rare flower varieties, cutting-edge flower breeding technologies, and creative floral artworks. Ashifa, First Secretary of the Bangladesh Embassy in China, remarked with admiration that she had never seen so many beautiful flowers on display all together, calling it a place definitely worth coming back to. The foreign guests also visited the featured Fengtai Joyful Learning Park Curriculum zone with great interest and interacted with students from the Yangqiao Campus of Beijing No.12 High School Education Group, who were taking an integrated labor and art course there.

At the Cloud Reception Hall on the 52nd floor of Leeza SOHO, the foreign guests took in a panoramic view of the vibrant Lize Financial Business District. They learned in detail about the planning and development of the business district, and many said they were impressed by the strong development momentum of this emerging financial hub in the capital.

Shunyi District: China-Germany (China-Europe) Hidden Champions Forum 2026 Opens

On May 25, the China-Germany (China-Europe) Hidden Champions Forum 2026 opened at the Beijing China-Germany International Convention and Exhibition Center. Themed on “Joint Innovation, Integrated Development”, the forum brought together nearly 100 government and business representatives from Germany and across Europe.

At the opening ceremony, the 2026 China-Germany Hidden Champions Open Cooperation Report was released, and the “China-Germany (China-Europe) TBT Public Services Station” was launched. A total of six German/European industrial projects were signed, covering cutting-edge fields such as semiconductors, intelligent manufacturing, industrial design, and hydrogen energy materials. The ceremony also saw the appointment of Industry Partner of the Beijing China-Germany Economic and Technological Cooperation Demonstration Zone (BCGP-IP).

Huairou District: A Series of Events Under APEC-Supported Projects Held in Huairou

From May 21 to 26, a series of events under projects supported by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) were held in the Huairou District.

Under the theme of “Fostering an Open and Collaborative Innovation Ecosystem for Resilient Growth in the Asia-Pacific”, the events featured two major sections: the APEC Innovation City Workshop and the Thematic Workshop on “APEC Voluntary Contribution Platform for Best Practices in Open Innovation Ecosystems”. The events attracted researchers from various countries in fields including science and technology innovation policymaking, digital transformation, industry-university-research collaboration, technology commercialization, and international cooperation. Participants also visited Jinyu Xingfa Science Park, where they received a detailed briefing on the park’s efforts to repurpose industrial heritage and drive urban renewal through sustainable development principles.
