Recently, a delegation from Torrejón de Ardoz, Community of Madrid, Spain, visited Changping District, Beijing, opening a new chapter in the friendship between the two sides that has lasted over a decade.

Alejandro Navarro Prieto, Mayor of Torrejón de Ardoz, held talks with officials from Changping District and attended a friendly football match between the two sides. The delegation also toured Nanshao Town’s ZhiFengTang Beeseum, International Medical Device City, Juyongguan Great Wall, as well as Wanjiyuan’s Studio, Zheng Yukui’s Ceramics Studio, and Ruochen Qipao House in Xiayuan Village, Xingshou Town. They gained in-depth insights into Changping’s achievements in eco-agriculture, advanced healthcare, preservation of traditional culture, and rural revitalization.

Changping District and Torrejón de Ardoz established a sister-city relationship in 2013. Since 2016, the two sides have carried out close cooperation focused on football. Over the past decade, initiatives such as introducing Spanish football coaches and organizing youth training camps have benefited more than 3,000 students across 35 primary and secondary schools in Changping. These efforts have promoted the steady development of campus football in the district, and deepened the longstanding friendship between the two sides.
