On August 12, 2024, a delegation led by Oudet Souvannavong, President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), and Somchith Inthamith, formal LNCCI official, visited the Jingping Logistics Hub Industrial Park. Tang Chaohui, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Pinggu District Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Pinggu, along with Ma Yulan, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Pinggu District People’s Congress (non-resident) and Director of the District Investment Promotion Committee, attended.
During the meeting, Oudet Souvannavong, President of the LNCCI, stated that China and Laos are traditionally friendly neighbors. As the operation of the China-Laos Railway has turned Laos into an important transportation hub in the region, he expressed the hope to further promote economic and trade cooperation between the two regions by launching the Laos-Pinggu “China-Central Asia Freight Train”. He also hoped to sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Jingping Logistics Hub Industrial Park to establish a Lao Import Goods Pavilion, and to facilitate the sister-city relationships between Pinggu District and Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, as well as its districts and counties. This will deepen cooperation in logistics, economy and trade between the two sides and achieve complementary development.
Tang Chaohui, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Pinggu District Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Pinggu, highlighted that openness fosters progress. Both sides can explore further cooperation in such fields as agriculture, logistics, and cultural tourism. Collaborative efforts should be made to establish the Lao Import Goods Pavilion, launch the China-Central Asia Freight Train, and sign an agreement to promote the establishment of sister-city relationships between Pinggu District and Vientiane as well as its districts and counties. The aim is to advance the implementation of practical cooperation projects. It is hoped that Jingping Logistics Hub Company will engage in deep collaboration with LNCCI, fully unleashing the cooperation potential of the two sides, and promoting economic, trade and people-to-people exchanges, so as to enhance the international influence of the Jingping Logistics Hub.
At the meeting, Qin Haibin, Secretary of the CPC Mafang Town Committee and Director of the Mafang Logistics Administrative Committee, gave an overview of the Jingping Logistics Hub Industrial Park. Zhao Liang, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Jingping Logistics Hub Company, introduced the construction and planning of the “Belt and Road” Import Goods Pavilion. He expressed interest in collaborating with chambers of commerce, and enterprises in Laos. Leveraging the China-Laos Railway and based on the market demand of both sides, we can achieve production capacity cooperation and mutual benefits, jointly promoting the high-standard development of the capital’s logistics hub.
After the meeting, the delegation conducted a field visit to the DNE Smart City Logistics Valley, where they learned about the construction progress of the largest single logistics project. At the Jingping Logistics Hub mid-field area (Pinggu Local Railway), the delegation gained firsthand insights into the operation of the China-Europe Railway Express and the project construction at the railway yard. At the Russian Import Goods Pavilion, they visited various functional areas, including the product exhibition and sales section, meeting and live streaming area, and the dining area. They also received updates on the recent planning and construction progress of the pavilions. At the Guononggang Supply and Marketing Village Livestreaming Industrial Park in Daxingzhuang Town, the delegation toured the park’s supporting facilities and service systems, learning about the park’s experience in e-commerce livestreaming operation modes, nurturing emerging enterprises, and supporting and benefiting farmers.
