On June 30, 2024, Wang Youguo, Secretary of the CPC Daxing District Committee, and Mehmet Murat Çalık, Mayor of Beylikdüzü District, Türkiye, jointly signed the Letter of Intent on the Establishment of Sister-City Relationship Between Daxing District, Beijing, the People’s Republic of China, and Beylikdüzü District, Istanbul, Türkiye. This signing marks the official start of establishing the sister-city relationship between Daxing District and Beylikdüzü District.

Türkiye, as a bridge connecting Europe and Asia, boasts unique advantages in both location and resources. Beylikdüzü District and Daxing District share many similarities in such areas as economic growth and urban development. Through closer cooperation, the two sides aim to explore collaborative opportunities in urban planning, industrial development, and cultural exchanges for mutual prosperity.

During their visit to Türkiye, the Daxing District delegation exchanged views with officials from the Beylikdüzü District Government about advancing cooperation between the China-Türkiye International Innovation Center and the Beylikdüzü District Government, particularly highlighting Daxing District’s competitive industries and the Daxing International Airport Economic Zone. Accompanied by Mayor Çalık, the delegation also toured major projects, including Beylikdüzü District’s Post-Disaster Temporary Shelter and Logistics Center, Science and Art Center, and the Cultural Center.

Daxing District currently has five officially registered sister cities: Sinan County of the ROK, Perama of Greece, Paris Terres d’Envol of France, Needham of the United States, and Stavanger of Norway. Additionally, it maintains friendly exchanges with two cities: Gwanak District of the ROK and Beylikdüzü District of Türkiye.
