Recently, Li Weihua, Deputy Mayor of Dongcheng District, met with Carl Decaluwé, Governor of West Flanders, Belgium, and his colleagues in Beijing.

Li Weihua briefed them on the geographical advantage and economic, social, and cultural development of Dongcheng District, and the two sides exchanged ideas on further promoting exchanges and cooperation in such fields as economy, culture, and trade. It’s hoped that both sides will work together to build more platforms to provide better services for business investment and cultural exchanges.

Decaluwé said that this visit further deepened his understanding of Dongcheng District and commended Dongcheng’s proposal for promoting practical exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. He also expressed his desire for a joint celebration to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the birth of Ferdinand Verbiest, a Belgian scientist and missionary.
