The inauguration ceremony of the China-Russia Literature Center and the First China-Russia Literature Forum was recently held at Capital Normal University. Valery Falkov, Head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Yu Yingjie, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Education Work Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Qiu Huadong, Member of the Party Group, Vice Chairman and Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Writers Association (CWA), and other Chinese and Russian guests attended the event.
Under the joint guidance of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the China-Russia Literature Center was jointly launched by Capital Normal University and the Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Representatives from China and Russia signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for the Center and unveiled its plaque at the ceremony.
At the First China-Russia Literature Forum held afterward, Chinese and Russian guests conducted in-depth discussions on a range of topics, including the history of China-Russia literary relations, the development of the Chinese school of Russian literary studies, mutual translation of literary classics, cross-cultural interpretation, and the role of literature in exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations. They also shared views about the broad prospects for China-Russia literary research and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
This year marks the China-Russia Year of Education. With literature as a bridge, the China-Russia Literature Center will organize high-level activities for cultural and people-to-people exchanges, academic research and talent development, actively promote the application and dissemination of academic achievements, and continue to share with the world the vivid stories of cultural exchanges between China and Russia.
