On the morning of November 17, Arturo Romo, Director General for the Attraction of Investments, Mexico City’s Economic Development Secretariat, led a delegation to the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-council (CCPIT Beijing). Li Xiangying, Chairperson of CCPIT Beijing, met with the delegation, during which the two sides exchanged views on strengthening economic and trade cooperation and deepening business relations.

Li Xiangying welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of Beijing’s development and industrial planning as a center for sci-tech innovation, particularly in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, and the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. She noted that CCPIT Beijing is committed to encouraging Beijing-based enterprises to engage in international exchanges, supporting their global expansion, and facilitating the entry and development of international enterprises in Beijing.

Arturo Romo highlighted Mexico City as a leading economic and cultural hub in Latin America. The city is currently upgrading its service sector and actively developing emerging industries such as clean energy, pharmaceutical and healthcare, and tourism, with a view to achieving sustainable and inclusive growth.

Both sides agreed that Beijing and Mexico City share similarities in terms of population size, industrial structure, and technological innovation priorities. Moving forward, the two cities will explore ways to establish regular exchange mechanisms under the sister-city framework, promote industrial cooperation and business matchmaking, and pursue mutually beneficial outcomes.
