Recently, the Beijing-Ethiopia Business Cooperation Promotion Conference was successfully held in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.
The conference was hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-Council (CCPIT Beijing), Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA), Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (AACCSA), and Beijing Chamber of International Commerce (BCIC), with strong support from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Enterprises and associations such as BAIC Group, Beijing Urban Construction Group, Beijing Capital Agribusiness & Foods Group, BBMG Corporation, Dongsheng Group, Hugo Biotech, WeMed, and E-Town • Chamber of Commerce for Technology and Science attended the event. More than 200 participants, including representatives from Ethiopian government departments, chambers of commerce, industry associations, and enterprises, as well as Chinese-funded enterprises in Ethiopia were present.
The conference featured four sessions, including the signing ceremony, economic and trade promotion, and enterprise negotiation, during which Beijing and Ethiopia reached a series of cooperative results and signed six agreements.
The CCPIT Beijing and the ECCSA signed a memorandum of friendly cooperation, while the BCIC and the AACCSA established a friendly cooperation agreement. This marks the first establishment of friendly relationships with Ethiopia’s chambers of commerce and industry associations, further expanding our international circle of friends and enhancing the service network for enterprises. Both sides will strengthen regular communication and provide various forms of support to their respective members. They will actively engage in reciprocal visits, project inspections, and collaborative exhibitions to promote enterprise cooperation and trade and economic exchanges between the two sides.
Beijing Jingliang Oil and Fat Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement with Ambasel Trading House P.L.C. to collaborate on trade in agricultural products and market channel development. Beijing Dongsheng Group placed a procurement order with Ethiopian Turmi Technology Company for 5,000 tons of mung beans, thereby expanding the import of high-quality African agricultural products. WeMed signed a memorandum of cooperation with ACE Ethiopia Engineering PLC, leveraging its expertise and market experience in the medical field to deliver high-quality services to the Ethiopian people. Additionally, the E-Town • Chamber of Commerce for Technology and Science signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ethiopian Youth Entrepreneurs Association for collaboration in various areas such as policy consulting, youth entrepreneur exchanges, youth employment and entrepreneurship, and think tanks.
The economic and trade promotion focused on showcasing Beijing’s investment environment and opportunities, as well as the development strengths and collaboration needs of enterprises from both sides. CCPIT Beijing presented the achievements of the capital’s development in the new era, along with its opening-up initiatives and high-quality services, inviting Ethiopian enterprises to invest and start businesses in Beijing. The Ethiopian Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) presented on the development of industrial parks in Ethiopia and relevant policies, inviting Chinese enterprises to establish a presence in these parks while exchanging ideas on management philosophies and models.
At the conference, over 100 Ethiopian enterprises engaged in face-to-face discussions with their Beijing counterparts to explore cooperation and business opportunities for mutual development.
