On the afternoon of June 24, under the framework of sister-city relationship between Beijing and Vientiane, the Beijing Municipal Party Committee School (Beijing Administration Institute) and the LPRP Party School of Vientiane (Vientiane School of Politics and Public Administration) held a video meeting on poverty alleviation. Beijing shared the experience of the Communist Party of China in governing the country, including the philosophy of "Targeted Poverty Alleviation". More than 360 representatives from the Party and government system of Vientiane attended the conference. Relevant officials from the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC also attended the conference.

With the theme of "Targeted Poverty Alleviation: China's Strategy to Combat Poverty", the Beijing Municipal Party Committee School used specific cases and concrete data to demonstrate China's achievement in poverty alleviation. It elaborated on the philosophy of "Targeted Poverty Alleviation" and China's international cooperation on poverty alleviation.

This meeting marked Vientiane's first exchange with its sister city on poverty alleviation. Representatives from Laos showed strong interest and had heated discussions with Chinese experts on such topics as building confidence in poverty alleviation, helping people in need, and promoting poverty alleviation through consumption. Head of the LPRP Party School of Vientiane spoke highly of the extraordinary achievements made by China in poverty alleviation, saying China's experience is worth learning by developing countries including Laos. Vientiane is willing to work closely with Beijing to study and put in practice the philosophy of "Targeted Poverty Alleviation", continuously improve people's living standards, and lift its people out of poverty.

Laos is China's socialist friendly neighbor. Vientiane is the capital city and political, economic, cultural, educational center of Laos. In April 2015, Beijing and Vientiane officially established sister city relationship. In recent years, based on the characteristics of exchanges between capitals of socialist countries, the two cities continuously improved bilateral exchanges, having in-depth discussion on governance experience. Through Municipal Party Committee School and other platforms, Beijing held a series of activities including communicating the guiding principles of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and sharing poverty alleviation experience. Beijing has been continuously innovating in ways to tell the CPC's stories well.
