On November 11, the handover ceremony of the first phase of the China-aided Mahosot General Hospital Project was held in the capital of Laos, Vientiane. Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong and Lao Health Minister Bounfeng Phoummalaysith attended the ceremony.
The China-aided Mahosot General Hospital Project started in December 2018. Its initiation was witnessed by heads of the People’s Republic of China and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. As a landmark project in China-Laos cooperation in public welfare, it tops the list of China-aided hospital projects by scale, the number of beds and investment.
Beijing Uni-Construction Group Co., Ltd. (BUCC) is undertaking the two-phase project. The first phase covers the construction of infectious disease centres, ward buildings, conference halls and sewage treatment stations. The second covers the construction of medical technology centres and the complex building for both outpatient and emergency departments. The complex will be the largest and most comprehensive general hospital in Laos after its completion. It will play a key role in improving local health care services and promoting social and economic development.
