On August 17, 2020, Beijing Research and Development Center for Building Energy Efficiency signed a cooperation MOU on the building energy efficiency pilot project of Beijing with Copenhagen city asset unit online. Delegates from both sides attended the event. Luke Sherlock, programme manager of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, presided over the signing ceremony.
Carrying out the pilot project in Beijing at this special moment will give a boost to social and economic development, said Mr. Sherlock, who hoped the project could help cement the friendship and cooperation between the two cities. The two sides agreed on the ways of exchange and cooperation given the current situation and the project follow-up. It is believed that their cooperation will provide guidance and inspiration for building efficiency solutions in Beijing and other Chinese cities to help achieve a substantial reduction in energy consumption and emissions.
The asset unit under the Finance Administration of the City of Copenhagen is the asset management department, assuming full responsibility for the management of all public buildings in the city, including the ownership and responsibility for technical and energy-consuming elements such as heating and ventilation systems.
