Sino-Russian Teenager Writing and Drawing activity themed on 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Since its official launch in April 2021, the organizers have solicited essays from Chinese and Russian children and teenagers. By exchanging the articles, the organizers built a platform for participants to create illustrations for the essays from each other. More than 2,000 original compositions and 1,000 original paintings were collected. Some of the excellent works have been displayed at Beijing Shougang No.3 Blast Furnace Museum—a site for the Beijing Winter Olympics, and Capital Library of China. The exhibition received more than 100,000 visits.
Consul General of the Consulate General of China in Yekaterinburg Cui Shaochun, president of International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) Zhang Mingzhou, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism Pang Wei, secretary of the Party Committee and chairperson of the Board of Directors of Beijing Publishing Group Kang Wei, representatives of Capital Library of China and Dalian University of Foreign Languages, deputy director of the National Culture Policy Bureau of Novosibirsk State Kuzaeva Irina, director of Novosibirsk Gorky Children’s Library of Russia Kostina Olga, director of the State Public Scientific Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Social Sciences Lizunova Irina, among others, participated in the event through online and offline channels and delivered remarks.
Cui Shaochun said that the event, taking the Winter Olympics as the theme, provided Chinese and Russian teenagers with a platform to communicate with each other and show their talent. As a new generation in China-Russia friendship, the two countries' teenagers conveyed their views on the Winter Olympics and their interpretations of the Olympic Spirit through art works that are full of imagination and creativity. The activity not only enabled them to express their longing and best wishes for Beijing Winter Olympic Games, but also enhanced their mutual understanding and friendship through sharing and exchanges. The Year of Sports Exchanges between China and Russia was launched, beginning from 2022 through 2023. The activity marked a good beginning for it, as it helped attract more teenagers to participate in the friendly exchanges and to write a new chapter of the friendship across generations between China and Russia.
