In October 2020, Michael Ludwig was reelected Mayor and Governor of Vienna at the elections to the Vienna City Council. The incumbent Mayor and Governor will serve his second term from mid-November 2020 till 2025.

Mr. Ludwig, born in Vienna, graduated in political science and history at University of Vienna and obtained his PhD there. In June 2018, he succeeded his predecessor, who stepped down before the end of the term, as Mayor and Governor of Vienna. Mr. Ludwig has been friendly to China, and his city government has organized the Chinese New Year celebrations for two consecutive years.

Note: Vienna is both a city and a federal state in Austria. Hence, the Mayor of Vienna also serves as Governor of Vienna.
