On the initiative of the Armenian Embassy in China, a video conference has been recently held between Chinese and Armenian experts to discuss the role of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the fight against COVID-19. With support from the Foreign Affairs Office of the Beijing Municipal Government and Beijing Municipal Health Commission, the event was jointly organized by Beijing Hengji Health Management and Development Foundation, Beijing Association of Chinese Medicine, Beijing Association of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, and the Armenian Ministry of Health. Liu Qingquan, President of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, an expert of the Central Steering Group for Wuhan, deputy head of the National Expert Team for TCM Treatment, and head of the makeshift TCM hospital in Hubei, was invited to give a themed lecture at the conference.

Professor Liu Qingquan introduced the methods of and useful experience in applying TCM in outbreak control and the clinical diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 patients, and explained in detail the issues that interest Armenian experts greatly such as Beijing's No.3 COVID-19 prevention prescription, the role of moxibustion in clinical TCM practice, TCM's solution to the coagulation problem of COVID-19 patients, and the TCM system.

Dr. Mkrtich Avagyan, President of Armenian Association of Traditional and Alternative Medicine and Head of Alternative Medicine Department at Yerevan State Medical University, expressed sincere thanks to Chinese experts for their detailed explanations and unreserved experience sharing. The Armenian attendees said that this video conference is rich in content and marks another attempt of Beijing to provide strong support for Armenia's fight against COVID-19, following its donation of Chinese patent medicines and other medical supplies to Yerevan in April this year.
