On April 2, 2025, a special “live  demonstration” of Beijing’s international services was held at Terminal 3  of Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA). Organized by the  Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal  Committee and the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of  Beijing Municipality, this event brought together 30 International Friendship Ambassadors, including foreign experts, business executives, and reporters based in Beijing, to experience Beijing’s international services.

Immersive Experience: Exploring Beijing Services Through Details

“Welcome  to the service area of BCIA!” With a staff member’s warm introduction,  the International Friendship Ambassadors were instantly drawn to the  standardized service counters and thoughtful offerings.

International Friendship Ambassadors learn about Beijing’s international service at the BCIA

In  the payment services area, contactless mobile payments enabled smooth  and efficient cash withdrawals using foreign bank cards and currency  exchange. The mobile services area offered instant-activation local SIM  cards for seamless global connectivity. At the culture and tourism area,  International Friendship Ambassadors learned about the free half-day  layover tour designed for holders of Beijing Pass and inbound transit  passengers, expressing willingness to recommend these services to their  friends. Officials from relevant departments also presented Beijing’s  efforts to improve the international language environment and develop  international communities.

Sharing Insights: Advancing Beijing’s International Services Together

“We  have lived and worked in Beijing for many years, witnessing its  international services evolve from functional to exceptional,”  participants remarked during discussions. While commending the  achievements and highlights of international services, such as seamless  payments and multilingual support, they offered constructive suggestions  on existing challenges in daily life, work, and study in Beijing. Their  suggestions included expanding services at BCIA, such as promoting the  Beijing Pass and English maps, as well as improving healthcare access,  school admissions, and banking procedures for foreign nationals.

International Friendship Ambassadors sharing insights for Beijing’s international services

Moving  forward, Beijing Foreign Affairs Office will host more activities for  International Friendship Ambassadors to explore the city. These efforts  aim to engage more foreign nationals in supporting Beijing’s development and refining international services, further enhancing Beijing’s global appeal.
