Diplomatic Envoys in China Watch The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting in Beijing

On the evening of February 29, the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality invited ambassadors to China, representatives of international organizations in China, and diplomats and their families to watch a special performance played by China Oriental Performing Arts Group, the dance drama The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting, at the China National Opera House. Nearly 700 people including senior diplomats from nearly 100 embassies (organizations) in China and their families attended the event, including ambassadors from Cameroon, South Africa, Nepal, Türkiye, Lebanon, Greece, Kiribati, Bulgaria, and Honduras. Assistant Foreign Minister Hua Chunying delivered a welcome speech.

The dance drama captivated the diplomatic envoys with its narrative structure that interweaves space and time, stage designs full of Chinese cultural elements, and exquisite and vibrant dance techniques. It presented the audience with a visual feast and showcased the breathtaking A Panorama of Mountains and Rivers, unveiling a picture where man and nature live in harmony.

After the performance, diplomatic envoys had a warm exchange with the dancers, praising their outstanding performance. They lauded the beauty of the dance drama, which shows the unique charm and innovative development of Chinese culture and helps them better understand China’s history and future.
