Recently, over 20 social organizations have participated in the Pre-Conference Event in China of the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference at the Sanlitun International Youth Talent Hall in Chaoyang District. The event was co-hosted by Beijing’s civil society organizations and the Center for the Americas of China International Communications Group.

Co-chairs for the UN Civil Society Conference and Director of the Civil Society Unit of the UN Department of Global Communications were invited to deliver speeches online, focusing on the background, agenda, and registration requirements of the Conference. Additionally, four roundtable sessions were held, where participants discussed the role of cross-sector cooperation in areas such as technology, culture and tourism, media, and women in achieving sustainable development goals, as well as potential avenues for youth-led philanthropy to advance the UN Global Agenda.

The 2024 UN Civil Society Conference will be held in Nairobi, Kenya in May, under the theme “Shaping a Future of Global and Sustainable Progress”. The conference will center around the Summit of the Future scheduled for this September and its outcomes will serve as a reference for UN member states in drafting the Pact for the Future, in an effort to accelerate progress towards the sustainable development goals of the UN’s 2030 Agenda. Beijing’s social organizations that participated in the event expressed their readiness to register for the conference and plan side events, exhibitions, and other forms of activities around the conference theme to tell engaging stories of China, thereby contributing Beijing’s wisdom to global governance.
