On the evening of October 7, a Chinese employee of the Bangladesh Project Department of the China Railway 17th Bureau who had carried with him corporate cash was robbed and stabbed on his way to the camp site. He was rushed to the hospital where he sadly passed away. The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh pays close attention to this incident. Ambassador Li Jiming immediately spoke with the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh that night, requesting immediate police action to bring the criminals to justice and effective measures to strengthen the protection of Chinese citizens. It is reported that the Bangladesh police arrested the prime suspect on the early morning of October 8.

Recently, several cases of robbery and theft against Chinese citizens and enterprises have occurred in Bangladesh, resulting in serious injuries, deaths or heavy losses of property. The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh has repeatedly reminded Chinese citizens and institutions in Bangladesh to take adequate security precautions. Chinese citizens are urged to maintain a high level of vigilance and increase safety awareness and protective measures.
