As COVID-19 pandemic is raging overseas, the Foreign Affairs Office of Shijingshan District People’s Government has carried out consular protection survey and publicity activity to help residents and key foreign-related enterprises learn more about overseas consular protection and raise their safety awareness and risk prevention capability. The District Foreign Affairs Office, together with the District Federation of Industry and Commerce and the Foreign Affairs Office of Shougang Group, visited the Exit & Entry Service Center of Shijingshan Branch of Beijing Public Security Bureau, Beijing Shougang Construction Group and Beijing LBY Group.

Beijing Shougang Construction Group and Beijing LBY Group introduced the operation of their overseas projects and the measures they have taken to ensure the safety, health and security of their overseas employees. At the Exit & Entry Service Center of Shijingshan Branch of Beijing Public Security Bureau, the District Foreign Affairs Office inquired about the handling of exit and entry documents and services provided for foreigners.

According to an official of the District Foreign Affairs Office, the district attaches great importance to consular protection. After the pandemic broke out, the District Foreign Affairs Office, with the help of industrial regulators and sub-districts, carried out several rounds of data collection and quickly created and constantly updated the record of residents and dispatched employees from Shijingshan who were living overseas, providing important data for consular protection. In the meantime, the District Foreign Affair Office has carried out a variety of publicity activities, such as launching the “Shijingshan Foreign Affairs” WeChat public account and conducting consular protection publicity in communities, enterprises and schools, to spread consular protection information, raise residents’ awareness of risk prevention and control, and provide health advice and consular protection service channels. Going forward, the Shijingshan District Foreign Affairs Office, under the guidance of Beijing Foreign Affairs Office, will continue to conduct publicity activities and provide necessary guidance, and offer convenient consular protection services for enterprises.
During the survey, the district foreign affairs office presented the enterprises and government organs with a series of publicity materials, such as the China Guidebook on Consular Protection and Assistance, Travel Manual During the Pandemic, Eight Q&As for Overseas Travel, What You Need to Know to Study Abroad, and What You Need to Know to Work Abroad.
