As we often say in China, “Those who do not make their way to the Great Wall are not true heroes.” The Badaling Great Wall is one of the must-visit destinations for international travelers to Beijing. Such appeal is also evidenced by the influx of around 54,0

Recently, Yanqing District introduced a series of new initiatives to improve the services and travel experience for global tourists.

Diverse Payment Options

The ticketing office now offers multiple payment options, allowing overseas tourists to pay by cash, mobile payment, and even foreign card at point-of-sale (POS) terminals. In addition, an increasing number of merchants in the attraction have improved their services and installed POS terminals that accept foreign cards.

Foreign visitors can now buy tickets with passports or permanent resident ID cards via the “Throughout the Great Wall” ticketing platform on WeChat (ID: changchengnw). After purchasing tickets, international visitors can present passports, permanent resident ID cards, paper tickets, or QR codes to pass the ticket check.

Improved Multilingual Services

To improve the international language environment, a standardized and visitor-friendly tourism signage system has been established, comprising a total of 940 signs in Chinese and English for emergency response, travel guide, warnings, and more. The staff have received intensive multilingual training. Bilingual one-stop service counters have been set up to provide both English and Chinese services for ticket purchasing, exchange, and checking.

Going forward, the scenic area will continue to improve its services for international travelers and promote cultural and tourism products with distinctive Beijing characteristics. In doing so, it aims to tell more attractive stories of China and Beijing, and promote the history and culture of the Great Wall.
