Editor’s Note

In 2025, Beijing continued to explore new ideas and approaches to people-to-people diplomacy, making positive contributions to serving China’s overall diplomacy, supporting the high-quality development of the capital, and promoting people-to-people connectivity between China and the rest of the world. At the 2026 Meeting on People-to-People Diplomacy of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, a number of organizations with strong commitment and notable results shared their best practices. Today, let us take a closer look at the splendid story of the Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges and the unique appeal of people-to-people diplomacy.

The Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges (Beijing NGO) serves as a hub for non-governmental international exchanges. It holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and observer status with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Additionally, it is a council member of the China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE) and chairs CNIE’s Youth Exchange Professional Committee.

Over the years, the Beijing NGO has vigorously advanced people-to-people exchanges and pragmatic cooperation, encouraged NGOs to participate in global governance and multilateral affairs, and played an important role in strengthening people-to-people friendship and mutual understanding.
