On May 21, the Beijing University Foreign Language Service Volunteer Group was officially launched at the Capital University of Economics and Business. The initiative was jointly proposed by 36 universities across Beijing, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Jiaotong University, University of International Business and Economics, Beijing Language and Culture University, and Capital University of Economics and Business. Relevant officials from the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office and the Beijing Volunteer Service Federation (BVF) presented the Group flag to volunteer representatives.
The establishment of the Volunteer Group is a concrete action by Beijing’s universities to implement the Regulations of Beijing Municipality on Improving Language Environment for International Exchanges and actively contribute to the city’s internationalization efforts. Moving forward, under the unified management of the BVF, the Group will fully leverage the academic expertise of participating universities, and integrate foreign language resources from Beijing’s universities and the broader society. It will proactively deliver volunteer services for diplomatic receptions, international competitions, global conferences and exhibitions, cultural exchanges, and the standardization of public signage translations. These initiatives will help elevate Beijing’s capacity to deliver world-class international services.
The International Language Service Research Alliance of Universities in Beijing and the Beijing University Language Service Research Center were established on the same day.
