Beijing and Nanyang are one family connected by the South-to-North Water Diversion Canal. The event “National Industry Associations and Chambers of Commerce Visit Nanyang” was successfully held in Nanyang, Henan Province from May 8 to 9. It was jointly organized by the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, the CPC Nanyang Municipal Committee, and Nanyang Municipal People’s Government. The event brought 15 national industry associations and chambers of commerce to Nanyang, including the China Water Enterprises Confederation and the China Association of National Parks and Scenic Sites. By leveraging Beijing’s advanced resources and their industrial strengths, these associations align with Nanyang’s transformation needs to support the city’s high-quality development.

During their tour, representatives visited the Zhang Zhongjing Museum and the Wolonggang Scenic Spot to learn about local cultural and tourism development. They also toured the Nanyang World Rose Grand View Garden and Yaoyibao Mugwort Products Co., Ltd., gaining insights into the city’s specialty agricultural products and the current development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The representatives emphasized that Nanyang’s profound history, eco-friendly environment, and well-developed transportation network form a vast market and development potential. Based on insights gained from this visit, association representatives will facilitate collaboration between relevant enterprises and local characteristic industries, including culture and tourism, pharmaceuticals, and sports, while accelerating the implementation of related industrial cooperation projects. These efforts will contribute to Nanyang’s high-quality development and its goal of becoming a modern provincial sub-central city.

During the event, relevant industry associations and chambers of commerce will conduct field visits by sector, region, and theme to counties under Nanyang Municipality, including Dengzhou City, Xichuan County, and Neixiang County. They will visit enterprises, markets, industrial parks, and specialized departments to facilitate matchmaking in areas such as TCM, fashion design, development zone, and the automotive parts industry.
An official from Beijing Foreign Affairs Office stated that Nanyang is the core water source and canal head of the Central Route of China’s South-to-North Water Diversion Project. Citing the Chinese proverb, “When drinking water, remember its source,” the official emphasized that the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office will fully implement the collaborative decisions and deployment of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project made by the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the municipal government. They will leverage foreign affairs resources and channels to establish a new cooperation platform, harnessing the unique advantages of industry associations and chambers of commerce in expertise, information, talent, and mechanisms. The goal is to establish a regular communication mechanism with Nanyang, facilitate targeted matchmaking across industrial chains, and promote advanced development models, management experience, and innovative technologies. These efforts will inject new momentum into urban development and elevate the initiative of “National Industry Associations and Chambers of Commerce Visit Nanyang” as a highlight of Beijing-Nanyang cooperation
