On April 14, Emile Eicher, President of the Union of Cities and Municipalities in Luxembourg (SYVICOL), Member of the Council of State, and Deputy Mayor of Clervaux, Luxembourg, led a delegation to visit Shijingshan District. Wan Long, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shijingshan District Committee and District Mayor, met with the delegation and held a discussion.

Wan Long highlighted the alignment between Shijingshan District and Luxembourgish cities such as Esch-sur-Alzette and Differdange in multiple development priorities, including urban renewal, modern finance, and technological innovation. He noted that Shijingshan’s Shougang Park and Esch-sur-Alzette’s Science City in Belval enjoy strong similarities and broad cooperation space in areas such as industrial heritage redevelopment. He also expressed hope for further collaboration in finance, technology, economy and trade, sports, and culture, aiming to create new opportunities for mutual growth.

Emile Eicher expressed his deep impression of Shijingshan’s achievements in industrial transformation and socio-economic development. He proposed strengthening connectivity and deepening cooperative mechanisms in areas such as modern finance, technological innovation, green transition, industrial heritage redevelopment, and sports infrastructure as important drivers to advance sister-city relations. The delegation also visited Shougang Park and the Laoshan Velodrome.
