On the afternoon of April 9, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand, during her visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese Government, toured the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC).

Princess Sirindhorn and her delegation visited the Grand Canal Museum of Beijing, where they were briefed on the city’s civil cultural facilities and BMC’s development. The exhibition titled “Prosperity and Sustainability: an Exhibition of the History and Culture of Beijing and the Grand Canal” was a focus of their visit, where they appreciated relics, and explored the museum’s cultural and creative store with great interest.

On the scenic banks of the Grand Canal, Princess Sirindhorn stood on the Seven-Arch Bridge, where she could closely observe the Daguanglou, an ancient grain inspection site, and view from afar the RandengFo Sheli Pagoda, the northern starting point of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. This visit allowed her to experience firsthand the prosperity and evolution of the Grand Canal.

As night fell, she visited the Beijing Library to learn about the its design, collections, digital initiatives, and smart services in detail, and paid high praise for the distinctive cultural facilities of BMC.

Princess Sirindhorn has long been devoted to fostering friendly cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations between Thailand and China. She was awarded the Friendship Medal of the People’s Republic of China in 2019.
