As the capital of China, Beijing serves as a vital showcase of the country to the world. Recently, foreign journalists from various countries have visited Beijing, witnessing firsthand its practice of Chinese modernization and experiencing the unique blend of its traditions and modernity firsthand. Leveraging the role of media channels, the journalists are committed to telling the stories of Beijing and China further advancing international exchange and cooperation.
Zhongguancun Exhibition Center:
Nearly 100 foreign journalists from 84 countries visited the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center to see Zhongguancun’s vitality and charm of sci-tech innovation.
These journalists were captivated by the sci-tech products spanning various sectors, including embedded facial recognition, precision engraving and AI.
Mdluli, a journalist from South Africa’s Daily News, lingered at the Xiaomi booth for quite some time, noting the brand’s popularity in Africa and sharing that he personally owns a Xiaomi phone. He also expressed interest in test-driving the Xiaomi SU7. Meanwhile, a journalist from Yemen spent full five minutes photographing the Jingdiao 5-Axis High-Speed Machining Center, amazed by its precision capabilities to achieve “0.1μ feed, 1μ cutting, nano surface finish”. He commented, “It’s truly incredible that the machine can engrave a company logo on an eggshell with such precision!”
The Beijing Plant of Mengniu Dairy:
Foreign journalists from 35 countries, including Ethiopia, South Africa, Egypt, Pakistan, Syria, and Jordan, visited the Beijing Plant of Mengniu Dairy.
The journalists gained an in-depth understanding of Mengniu Dairy’s journey from the grasslands to the world and its global presence. During their visit to the production line corridor at the Beijing plant, the journalists praised Mengniu’s production processes, product quality, and digital and intelligent management systems. Eager to learn more, they asked a flurry of questions about Mengniu’s overseas sales.
The foreign journalists also tasted several Mengniu products on-site and praised them as “perfect”. They hoped these products would reach more countries and regions.
Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM):
A total of 31 foreign journalists from 26 countries and regions in Latin America and the Caribbean visited BUCM to experience firsthand of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) culture.
At the TCM Experience Hall on the He Ping Jie Campus of BUCM, the foreign journalists visited various exhibition rooms. They gained a unique appreciation of the “treatment based on pattern differentiation” of TCM through activities such as tasting the five flavors of traditional Chinese herbs, learning how to make moxa sticks, and experiencing a range of TCM diagnostic and therapeutic methods, including tuina, auricular therapy, acupuncture, moxibustion, and cupping. They also tried modernized TCM tongue diagnosis instruments. The journalists were captivated by the explanations of student volunteers from BUCM’s Chinese Medicine Culture Association and asked many questions, showing their keen interest.
The foreign journalists were intrigued by the miraculous effects of TCM, and their understanding of TCM culture and its modern development was further deepened. They are willing to tell TCM stories through media channels, promoting medical exchanges and cooperation with their home countries.
