The 2024 Beijing Culture Forum, approved by the State Council and co-hosted by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the Beijing Municipal Government, will take place in Beijing from September 19 to 21.

With a permanent theme of “Inheritance, Creativity, Mutual Learning”, the forum has chosen “Enhance Culture Exchanges for Common Progress” as its theme for 2024. Upholding and acting on Xi Jinping Thought on Culture and Xi’s important instructions in his congratulatory letter to the 2023 Beijing Culture Forum, the 2024 edition aims to build a platform to implement the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) at deeper levels, promote exchanges and mutual learning among Chinese and foreign civilizations, and enhance the influence of Chinese culture.

The forum will feature an opening ceremony, a main forum, six parallel forums, over 30 professional seminars, and relevant public cultural activities. Domestic and international guests will engage in in-depth discussions on topics including mutual learning among civilizations and common progress, history, culture and development path, spiritual life and industrial development, cultural heritage preservation and inheritance, integration of new business forms and technologies, and film and television production with relevance to the present times. The aim is to pool wisdom and strength for building Beijing into a national cultural center, promoting the flourishing of Chinese culture, and jointly advancing human civilizations.

More than 800 guests will attend the forum, including officials from central and local publicity and cultural departments, international dignitaries, heads of international organizations in cultural and technological fields, as well as renowned experts, scholars, writers, artists, and industry leaders from home and abroad. The Beijing Cultural Night Art Show will be held at Beijing Performing Arts Center. Supporting activities launched in the meantime will include Cultural Industry Investor Conference and International Youth Cultural Dialogue, among others. Along with the forum, a series of diverse public cultural activities will take place, including the 2024 “Grand Performances in Beijing Seasonal Productions”, “Temple of Earth and Me” Beijing Book Fair, Beijing October Literature Festival, Quality Film Panorama and Public Benefit Cultural Consumption Season.
