Recently, the China-U.S. Food Security, Nutrition, and Health Working Group visited Pinggu District to study the development of smart agriculture. Jason Hafemeister, Acting Deputy Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, participated in the event.
The working group made field visits to several locations in Pinggu District, including the Smart Vegetable Factory of the High-Tech Agricultural Z-Park, Zhongguancun Agricultural Science and Technology Park Innovation Factory, Jingwa Greenhouse Horticulture Demonstration Park, Jingwa Fruit Industry Sub-Center, and Zixingyuan (Beijing) Food Technology Co., Ltd. The participants were shown the construction of intelligent greenhouses in protected agriculture, watched promotional videos about High-Tech Agricultural Z-Park, viewed the park’s sand table model, and listened to presentations on the park’s innovation platform building, agricultural research projects, and R&D achievements. In addition, they learned about Pinggu’s progress in the commercialization and application of greenhouse horticultural sci-tech results and visited smart production and packaging workshops to observe the on-site production and processing of specialty foods.
The working group highly praised Pinggu District’s development of agricultural innovation platforms, progress in agricultural research projects, and application of R&D results. It is hoped that the two sides will continue to cooperate in the fields of agriculture and agricultural product processing.
