The 4th “Beijing - A Global City” Short Video Contest was officially launched at Tanko Moofland Park in Mentougou District on April 23.
The contest, hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, is a flagship event that aims to promote Beijing’s image as a global city and ride on the latest wave of new media. Similar to previous editions, this year’s contest welcomes entries of short videos under five minutes in length from online participants and invited creators. Both individuals and organizations are eligible to partake. To enter the contest, participants can post their videos on new media platforms such as Kuaishou, WeChat Channel, and Douyin, using the hashtag #Beijing - A Global City 2024#. They should also send the source files, titles and introductions of their works, and creator profiles to the organizing committee at beijingvideos@cri.cn. The submission deadline is November 15, 2024. Afterward, the host will invite experts to review the entries and decide winners of the first, second, and third prizes, as well as excellence awards. Winners will receive certificates and bonuses, and their videos will be displayed on various new media platforms and channels in China and abroad.
This year’s contest features several new highlights. Foreign influencers based in Beijing will be invited to film creative short videos on designated themes, leveraging their expertise in overseas communication. Additionally, to combine Beijing’s international characteristics with AI technologies, innovative AI-powered publicity activities will also be organized during which interactive products will be released at important time periods to enhance public participation.
Since its inception in 2021, the contest has been held for three consecutive sessions, attracting nearly 700 entries from participants representing over 100 countries and regions. These entries have showcased Beijing’s progress in becoming a center for international exchanges and its dynamism as a global city.
