On the afternoon of March 28, Peng Liyuan, the wife of President Xi Jinping, met with faculty and student representatives from the Chinese Choir of the Burg Gymnasium at Beijing NO.35 High School.

On this warm and vibrant spring day, Peng arrived at the school’s library and was greeted with warm welcome from teachers and students.

Peng warmly welcomed the teachers and students for their revisit to China, congratulating them on the fruitful achievements of the choir’s decade-long efforts to convey friendship with melodic voices. Thanks to the concerted efforts of all, the choir has become a bridge of cultural exchanges between China and Germany and a shining symbol of the friendship between the two countries. She encouraged the students to unlock the world of the Chinese language with the key of music, appreciate the charming Chinese culture through beautiful melodies, and serve as new-generation envoys of the China-Germany friendship.

Olaf Millmann, President of the Choir Association, thanked Peng for her care and support for the choir, noting that more and more German teenagers have come to know and love China by learning Chinese through songs. They will continue building a bridge of communication through music and Chinese, in an effort to deepen mutual understanding and friendship between German and Chinese teenagers.

The student representatives shared with Peng their progress and experiences and expressed their affection for China in Chinese, expressing their commitment to mastering the language.

While talking to the visiting teachers and students, Peng praised the students for their improved Chinese language skills. She believed that the trip will give them a deeper insight into China. She also encouraged the students to share their experiences and feelings of the China trip with their families and friends after their return and continue promoting the Sino-German friendship.
