Themed “Better China, Better World: Enhancing Financial Openness and Cooperation for Shared Growth and Mutual Benefits”, the Annual Conference of Financial Street Forum 2023 will be held in Beijing from November 8 to 10. According to information received from the organizers on November 1, the event will bring together more than 400 guests from over 30 countries and regions around the world. They will discuss the most important issues in today’s economy and financial sector, explore ways to advance international cooperation, and seek solutions to the challenges facing the global economy, thereby leveraging the role of the financial sector to drive economic development.
Liu Dongwei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Xicheng District Committee and Mayor of Xicheng District, on behalf of the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee, gave an overview of the preparatory work. The annual conference will be held under the framework of "Main Forum + Parallel Forums + Fintech Conference". Specifically, there will be one main forum and three parallel forums, with a total of 22 activities (including the opening and closing ceremonies and special events). Concurrently, the Global Fintech Conference & the 5th Chengfang Fintech Forum will take place over five days (from November 8 to 12), comprising a total of 20 activities.
As a state-level international professional forum held after the central financial work conference, the annual conference will serve as a concrete step in implementing the latest instructions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, giving full play to its role as the national-level platform for the formal release of financial policies. According to reports, the annual conference this year has, for the first time, invited a large number of international guests, with a notable increase in both the number and status of participants. Additionally, this year’s conference will also feature overseas sub-venues in Dubai and Singapore where participants will be able to interact with the main venue in Beijing, facilitating international exchanges and mutual learning.
This year's annual conference has initiated an extensive call for projects,. Over 30 significant projects have been included in the shortlist, such as the "Memorandum of Cooperation in the Fintech Field in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area", "Guidelines for Financial Digitalization Capability Maturity", and "Beijing Initiative for Sharing Global Development Opportunities through Consultation". The conference will also announce the top ten significant achievements selected on the basic of public opinion and media coverage.
Launched in 2012, the Financial Street Forum was upgraded into a state-level international professional forum in 2020. This year's annual conference is co-hosted by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, the People's Bank of China, the National Financial Regulatory Administration, the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Xinhua News Agency, and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.
