On September 17, the launch ceremony of the 2023 Beijing International Week for Science Literacy was held in Beijing. Representatives from 24 international organizations and institutions from 22 countries and regions convened to discuss strategies for improving the scientific literacy of the general public and explore new approaches for win-win development.

The permanent theme of the Beijing International Week for Science Literacy is "Working Together for Common Development". This year, under the annual theme of "Digital Literacy and Future Education", the event places more emphasis on the integration of science and culture, communication and cooperation. In addition to the launch ceremony, keynote speeches, and thematic parallel forums, the International Conference of Science and Technology Teachers and the Exhibition of International Science Communication Works will be held for the first time.

From September 16 to 24, the event will feature four parallel thematic forums - International Science Museum Directors Dialogue, Annual Meeting of Beijing Global Network of Science Festivals & Beijing International Science Festival Roundtable Conference, International Conference of Science and Technology Teachers, and Adolescents Science Education Development Seminar. With a global vision and a focus on the future and the public, this event aims to effectively communicate stories of sci-tech innovation and culture worldwide, and promote mutual learning of science communication experience and resource sharing, thus pooling global efforts to enhance the science literacy of the public.

Yu Yingjie, Vice Mayor of Beijing, attended the launch ceremony.
