Recently, the Organization Department of CPC Dongcheng District Committee, the Foreign Affairs Office, and the Bureau of Government Services of Dongcheng District jointly organized a training program on foreign-language proficiency in government services. More than 80 staff members from the government affairs service center, various divisions, and administrative service centers in sub-districts in Dongcheng participated in the program.
The training aimed to build a team with foreign language proficiency and improve the language environment for international exchanges. The focus of the training was on foreign-related service windows, while experienced professors were invited to customize courses for foreign-related government services such as joint application for work permits and residence permits in Beijing. The training involved whole-process practice of bilingual government services, and adopted a hands-on approach to make learning more efficient.
The participants actively engaged themselves in the practice, creating a lively atmosphere. “The training is both fascinating and practical, enabling us to gain a deep understanding of foreign-related policies and improve our oral English in foreign-related government services. In the future, we will be much more confident while handling the consultation and application of foreign nationals,” said a participant from the Beixinqiao Sub-district Administrative Service Center.
Going forward, Dongcheng District will sustain its efforts to improve the language environment for international exchanges and roll out more training programs on foreign-language proficiency of staff in key service windows, so as to deliver better foreign-related services.
