On February 28, the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) of the Ministry of Commerce invited close to 200 department or division officials from 28 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America to visit the Planning Exhibition Hall of Yanqing, the Lipao Village in Badaling Town, the Zhongguancun e-Valley (Yanqing) UAV Innovation Base, and Zhongguancun (Yanqing) Sports Science and Technology Frontier Technology Innovation Center.
Participants engaged in in-depth exchanges with officials from relevant departments and institutions in Yanqing about international development assistance, cross-border e-commerce, trade promotion, poverty alleviation, and reform and opening up. They spoke highly of China's remarkable achievements in upgrading the countryside and showed great interest in learning about China's experience in rural development.
An official from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development of Botswana hailed the eradication of absolute poverty as a great victory for the Chinese government and people, and the sustainable development of the Lipao Village as a mirror of the Chinese people's long and arduous fight for development. She believed that China's experience in poverty reduction and sustainable development can offer valuable insights for African countries.
An official from the Cambodian Ministry of Rural Development said that, after seeing how the Great Wall, the Beijing Expo Park, and the Winter Olympics have changed Yanqing, he was eager to learn about China's successful experience in getting rid of absolute poverty and achieving industrial development in rural areas.
Amir Vrhovac, advisor to the mayor of Travnik, Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that the Lipao Village is as beautiful and harmonious as European towns, which is a case in point of the impressive achievements that China has made in upgrading the countryside. He looked forward to having in-depth discussions with Chinese officials on how to transform into agritourism.
The seminars organized by AIBO cover a wide range of topics, including poverty reduction in China under the Global Development Initiative, China's reform and opening-up experience for developing countries, cross-border e-commerce in developing countries, trade promotion in developing countries, and international development assistance for developing countries. Yanqing District will continue to work with the seminars and other relevant institutions to tell China's story better and promote international exchanges and cooperation.
