GATIS Convened Its First General Assembly and Initial Meeting of the First Council

On April 25, the Global Alliance for Trade in Services (GATIS) convened its first General Assembly and the initial meeting of its first council. The meetings were held both online and offline. During the meetings, documents including Articles of Association of the Global Alliance for Trade in Services, were reviewed and adopted; the Initiative of Global Alliance for Trade in Services was deliberated and released; the members of the first council of GATIS including its President, Vice President, Secretary-General (also the legal representative) were elected, and the institutional framework of the GATIS was established. Jiang Zengwei, former President of CCPIT, was elected as President of the first council.

GATIS is an international, industrial and non-profit social organization that business/industry associations, companies, professional institutions and organizations from countries and regions across the world voluntarily join. It aims to facilitate exchanges and cooperation in global trade in services, foster new business models and forms of the services sector, upgrade the standards and regulations in trade in services, and promote the open, innovative and integrated development of the services sector and trade in services. Headquartered in Beijing, GATIS consists of the General Assembly, Council and Secretariat. The founding members of GATIS include international organizations, business associations and renowned enterprises across five continents (Africa, Europe, Asia, America, and Oceania) and all sectors of trade in services.

GATIS will follow its principle of "Neutrality, Openness, Inclusion and Innovation" in providing services for its members and supporting the development of the services sector. It will focus on promoting international exchanges and cooperation, driving the opening-up of trade-in-service markets, improving global rules on trade in services, accelerating the digitalization of trade in services, advocating low-carbon, environmental-friendly and green development, attaching great importance to public health, supporting the inclusive growth of trade in services for all, optimizing global business environment, building capacities of talent development for trade in services, etc. In this way, GATIS will contribute to the sound development of trade in services.
