In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of China's participation in the 1952 Helsinki Summer Olympics—the first Olympics that the People's Republic of China partook in upon its founding in 1949, the Embassy of Finland in China, Team Finland in China, People's Government of Shijingshan District and Shougang Group jointly held a music flash mob in Shougang Park on November 30th to send their best wishes to the forthcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Leena-Kaisa Mikkola, Ambassador of Finland to China, Li Xin, Deputy Secretary of the Shijingshan District Party Committee and District Mayor of Shijingshan, and relevant officials from the Department of European Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee, Beijing Foreign Affairs Office and Shougang Group attended the event.

Musicians from the International Master Philharmonic Orchestra and students from the Shijingshan Philharmonic Experimental Primary School performed You and Me, the theme song for the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and Jean Sibelius's Finlandia, a well-known song in Finland at the event. Student athletes from the curling team of Dianchang Road Primary School in Shijingshan District demonstrated floor curling. Students from Shijingshan Foreign Language Experimental Primary School, employees from Shougang Group, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beijing Foreign Affairs Office, People's Government of Shijingshan District and Shougang Group, together with Finnish guests, cut out paper snowflakes with a message of best wishes for the forthcoming 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

The flash mob event and its videos will be reported in China and covered by Yleisradio Oy (Finnish Broadcasting Company), Helsingin Sanomat, ThisisFINLAND and other mainstream Finnish media to fully showcase Shijingshan District's new image through industrial transformation by reusing industrial heritage while preparing for the Beijing Winter Olympics. This will raise Shijingshan District's international profile and enhance its international influence and voice, therefore contributing to Beijing's development as the center for international exchanges.
