On December 2, the Asian Financial Summit Forum and Asian Financial Think Tank Annual Forum (2021), hosted by the Asian Financial Cooperation Association (AFCA), was successfully held online.
The theme of the forum is "Deepen Regional Financial Cooperation to Boost Economic Recovery". Liu Liange, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AFCA and Chairman of the Board of the Bank of China, Zhou Liang, Vice Chairman of China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC), Andrew Cross, Chief Financial Officer of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and Ruan Zongze, Executive Vice President and Senior Fellow of China Institute of International Studies, attended the forum and delivered speeches. Participants from financial regulatory bodies and the media from over 30 countries attended the forum online, exchanging views on challenges and opportunities facing economic recovery and financial cooperation in Asia under the impact of the epidemic.
The city of Beijing participated in the forum upon invitation and introduced the development of the local financial industry. As China's national financial regulation center, Beijing undertakes important historic missions in leading the high-quality development and high-level opening-up of China’s financial sector. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Beijing launched a series of new measures for financial reform and opening-up based on its positioning as the national financial regulation center. The core competitiveness of the capital's financial industry has been raised; the systems and mechanisms for financial regulation have been enhanced; and the eco-system for the financial industry has been continuously improved. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Beijing will strive to enhance its role as the national financial regulation center, build a modern financial system with global competitiveness, advance the two-way opening-up of the financial sector, build an international green finance center, and formulate enabling mechanisms for targeted and efficient financial services.
AFCA is a non-governmental international organization initiated by China. Founded in 2017, the association is headquartered in Beijing. It follows the principle of "Connectivity, Cooperation, Joint Governance and Shared Benefits". It is devoted to building an exchange and cooperation platform for Asian financial institutions, in an effort to strengthen exchanges among regional financial institutions and promote financial resources integration. In recent years, Beijing has conducted extensive and fruitful cooperation with AFCA.
Yin Yong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Beijing, attended the forum and delivered a speech via video.
