Safety is of Primary Importance for Studying Abroad——6th Monthly Lecture on Consular Protection in 2021 at BLIA

On June 22, the 6th Monthly Lecture on Consular Protection, a lively and practical open class, was given for a total of nearly 300 high school teachers and students at Beijing Luhe International Academy (BLIA).

A variety of tailored courses were offered to meet different needs of the teachers and students at the lecture, and the consular protection knowledge were popularized among all teachers and students of the school. Safety instructions were provided and emergency simulation drills conducted for students preparing to study abroad.

Lecture on Consular Protection Knowledge

During the lecture on consular protection knowledge, experts on overseas security guided the students to the first class of consular protection, from the perspective of implementation, methods, legal basis, etc., helping them gain consular protection knowledge, strengthen consular protection awareness, bear in mind the hotline 12308, and acquire necessary self-protection skills.

Emergency Simulation Drills

When spelling out the main points for safety when studying abroad, the experts underlined how to identify and handle common risks for twelfth grade students who are prepared to study abroad soon. Besides, to address common concerns of teachers and parents, including stampede and robbery, the experts conducted simulation drills and demonstrated how to identify danger and use articles at hand for self-protection, in an effort to help students better discern and deal with risks.  

The lecture was warmly received by the teachers and students. BLIA leaders said that safety for all students is of overriding importance and that the professional and down-to-earth lecture on consular protection was a necessary "first class for overseas study" for the students. It helped strengthen students' safety awareness when studying abroad and cultivate their abilities to tackle emergencies. 

Yan Xu, a twelfth grade student, said: "The lecture has enabled me to learn about consular protection for the very first time. Now I know that consular protection is an important guarantee for traveling and studying abroad safe and sound."

Yu Jiani, a twelfth grade student, said: "Today's lecture has given me a deeper understanding of the importance of safety awareness for overseas study. In particular, I have learned through the drills many skills to tackle risks and danger. I'm looking forward to having more chances to take part in such activities in the future."
