On July 13, Mayor of Lima Jorge Muñoz Wells sent a letter of appreciation to Beijing Applied Biological Technologies Co., Ltd., thanking the company for its donation and support in Peru's fight against COVID-19.
During the rapid spread of the pandemic in Peru, the cases in its capital Lima accounted for more than 60% of the national total. To help Lima fight the pandemic and deepen international cooperation in this regard, within the framework of Beijing-Lima sister city cooperation, Beijing Applied Biological Technologies donated 5,040 sets of nucleic acid testing reagents and related supplies to Lima through the Foreign Affairs Office of the Beijing Municipal Government and provided technical support throughout the whole process.
Mayor Wells said that the donation would be of great help to his city during their current emergency, as it would be destined for the prevention and control of COVID-19 to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the Lima citizens.
Beijing and Lima established a sister-city relationship in 1983. Lima is the first sister city of Beijing in South America. Since then, the two cities have been working closely in culture and education.
