On December 8, the finals of the third “Motherland by Your Side” sitcom contest were staged at the Capital Library of China by Beijing Foreign Affairs Office, Office of Beijing Civic Enhancement Committee and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism in partnership with the Chinese Ballad Singers Association. Eight teams acted out the touching stories about consular protection, attracting an audience of more than 700 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the host and co-host organizations, municipal government departments, schools, enterprises and residential communities across the city.

The sitcom contest is an important part of the Consular Protection Publicity campaign in Beijing, aimed to communicate knowledge about consular protection in a vivid and easy-to-understand way. The contest has been held three times since its launch in 2017.

This year's contest, with a theme of “safe travel and be a civilized tourist”, has received extensive attention since its opening on April 10. A total of 27 teams participated in the contest, including three from outside of Beijing. After fierce competitions, “Thank You for Being with Me All the Time” by Gebi Drama Club won the first prize, and the performances by Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing Institute of Technology, North China Electric Power University and Blue Sky Rescue won second and third prizes. The performances by Beijing City University and Guangtongyuan Community won Best Style award.
