On the afternoon of May 12, Li Xiuling, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress, met with Spartak Nano, Chairman of the Albania-China Friendship Association.

Li gave an overview of the system of people’s congresses, and legislative, oversight and other key functions of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress. He said that China and Albania enjoy a profound traditional friendship. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the new-type bilateral relations have developed steadily, and exchanges and cooperation in various fields have grown increasingly dynamic. Beijing is a super-large city where tradition and modernity converge. At present, it is working hard to open up new horizons for the city’s endeavors on all fronts based on its strategic positioning as the Four Centers. The Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress is ready to work with the Albania-China Friendship Association, with the Belt and Road Cooperation and the Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries as bonds, to enrich bilateral communication and cooperation in economy and trade, agriculture, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and other fields through subnational exchanges. These efforts will make greater contributions to promoting the sustained and sound development of China-Albania relations.

Nano spoke highly of China’s significant achievements in its modernization. He emphasized the deep-seated amity between the two peoples, noting that the bilateral friendship has grown stronger over time. The Albania-China Friendship Association has always been committed to building bridges for cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and stands ready to further strengthen communication with Beijing to make more contributions to advancing friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
