Yin Li Meets with Members of the Global Board of Directors and Senior Executives of ABB

On the afternoon of May 11, Yin Li, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, met with members of the Global Board of Directors and senior executives of ABB of Switzerland.

Yin briefed the guests on Beijing’s economic and social development. He said that Beijing is fully implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan and focusing on the goal of taking the lead in basically realizing socialist modernization. Beijing is giving full play to its strengths in education, science and technology, and talent, while accelerating its development into of an international innovation center. The city is also building a modern industrial system with Beijing characteristics, continuously improving its modern infrastructure, and striving to become a global pacesetter in both the digital economy and the green economy. Yin noted that ABB, as a global leader in industrial technology, has deeply engaged in Beijing’s major infrastructure projects, industrial digital transformation and other fields. He expressed the hope for ABB to seize the new opportunities presented by Beijing’s development, enhance the R&D capacity of its innovation platforms in the city, and strengthen coordinated technological breakthroughs and joint talent cultivation. He also encouraged the company to expand its investment in intelligent manufacturing, build a world-leading intelligent manufacturing base, and take an active part in sectors such as humanoid robots. Furthermore, ABB is expected to promote green and low-carbon transformation, engage in the digital economy and smart city initiatives, and better advance the digital and intelligent transformation of industries. Yin also called on the company to strengthen open cooperation along industrial chains and encourage more international enterprises to increase their presence in Beijing. Beijing will continue to foster a first-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, enabling and internationalized, and will provide accessible and quality services for enterprises operating in the city.

Peter R. Voser, Chairman of the Board of ABB, and Morten Wierod, President and Chief Executive Officer of ABB, said that Beijing’s path toward modernization offers vast opportunities. ABB will continue to deepen its presence in the Beijing market, further increase its investment and expand its business footprint in the city, and build up its Beijing R&D center. The company will also deepen innovation cooperation with partners in fields such as artificial intelligence, the green economy, the digital economy and smart buildings, making greater contributions to Beijing’s high-quality development.

Jin Wei, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Beijing, attended the meeting.
