On the morning of March 25, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Isham Jaafar, Minister of Health of Brunei, who was in Beijing for the 2026 ZGC Forum Annual Conference.

Yin Yong noted that Beijing, home to numerous top universities, research institutes, medical institutions, and medtech innovation enterprises, boasts robust strengths in education, science, technology, and talent. The pharmaceutical and healthcare sector, a key driver of technological innovation in Beijing, has become one of the city’s three trillion-yuan industrial clusters. Today, the rapid development of information technology and artificial intelligence is bringing new growth opportunities for the sector. In recent years, Beijing and Brunei have achieved fruitful results in health cooperation. Beijing stands ready to deepen practical cooperation with Brunei in areas such as digital health and public health governance, promote exchanges and collaboration between Beijing’s medical institutions and enterprises and Brunei’s health authorities, and work together to enhance healthcare development for better health and well-being of people in both places.

Isham spoke highly of Beijing’s remarkable achievements in developing its healthcare system and pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. He expressed keen interest in further strengthening healthcare exchanges with Beijing, and exploring potential cooperation in population health management, digital technology application, and talent training.
