On the afternoon of November 26, Yin Li, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, met with guests attending the Beijing Forum for Symphonic Music 2025.

Yin Li stated that music is deeply loved by people. Chinese music boasts a long history and unique styles. Since Western symphonic music was introduced to China, it has integrated with elements of Chinese folk music, traditional opera, and other art forms, giving birth to a number of popular masterpieces that showcase the charm and appeal of Eastern culture. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC has outlined the development blueprint for the 15th Five-Year Plan period, proposing measures such as advancing new popular literature and art in the internet era, promoting the integration of culture and technology, and extensively carrying out international people-to-people exchanges and cooperation. As the nation’s cultural center, Beijing will strive to build itself into a capital of performing arts to better meet the people’s diverse and high-quality cultural needs. We are ready to work with all parties to deepen and expand cultural exchanges and share the fruits of cultural development. We will give play to the role of the World Association for Performing Arts (WAPA), make good use of the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) and Beijing’s theatre cluster, and enhance the international influence of forums such as the Beijing Forum for Performing Arts, Beijing Forum for Symphonic Music, and Taihu International Stage Art Forum. More efforts will be made to strengthen cooperation in fields such as theatre operation and performance planning, facilitate mutual visits and tours by more high-level artists and performance troupes, and let art become a bridge and bond for enhancing friendship and mutual learning among civilizations. We will promote the innovative development of musical works and empower art with technology. Chinese and foreign artists will be encouraged to engage in joint creations, deepen the integration of traditional culture and modern art, create high-quality works with both ethnic characteristics and international perspectives, and bring more excellent artistic works to benefit people around the world.

Ignacio García-Belenguer, General Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Teatro Real Madrid, Spain, and other guests noted in their speeches that Beijing attaches great importance to the growth of cultural programs. The WAPA, which brings together artistic institutions from various countries, serves as a model for promoting international artistic exchange and cooperation. They expressed willingness to work with Beijing to strengthen mutual learning, create more outstanding works, and contribute to cultural exchanges among nations.

Leaders from relevant central departments and Beijing Municipality, including Gao Zheng, Yang Wanming, Gao Shiming, and Zhao Lei, as well as Wang Ning, President of the NCPA and Chairperson of the WAPA, attended the meeting.
