Recently, Yin Li, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, met with a delegation of the Board of Directors of the U.S.-China Business Council (USCBC).
Yin Li said that China-U.S. relations are among the most important bilateral relationships in today’s world, playing a significant role in global economic stability and growth. The USCBC has long been committed to advancing bilateral ties and trade cooperation, serving as a vital bridge for exchanges and collaboration between the two countries. Beijing’s strengths in education, technology, and talent present vast market potential. Currently, the city is building itself into an international innovation center and a global pacesetter in the digital economy, while vigorously fostering new quality productive forces. These efforts will create favorable conditions for deepening practical cooperation across multiple fields and promoting mutually beneficial development. Yin hoped that the two sides could further strengthen economic and trade exchanges by expanding cooperation in communications and electronics, equipment manufacturing, logistics, and other sectors, and by developing services trade in areas such as technology services and professional services. This will help bring more new products and services into Beijing and China. The USCBC is encouraged to broaden investment cooperation, with an emphasis on expanding presence in Beijing in sectors such as electronic information, aerospace, high-end equipment, medicine, and health. Innovation collaboration is of great importance; therefore, he called on the USCBC to strengthen connections with Beijing’s research institutions and technology enterprises, drive deeper integration between innovation and industrial chains, and advance cooperation in the digital economy, green and low-carbon development, and other areas to generate new growth opportunities. Furthermore, Yin encouraged the USCBC to foster interaction between the business communities and wider societies of China and the U.S., and expand ties in culture, tourism, education, and youth engagement to deepen people-to-people exchanges and broaden areas of collaboration. Beijing will create a market-oriented, law-based, and accessible business climate in keeping with international standards, providing favorable conditions for enterprises to invest and grow in the city.
Rajesh Subramaniam, Chair of the Board of Directors of the USCBC and President and CEO of FedEx Corporation, together with other business leaders, congratulated Beijing on its economic and social achievements and expressed their hope to deepen cooperation across various fields. The USCBC reaffirmed its commitment to playing an active role in advancing U.S.-China economic and trade relations, and calling upon more American enterprises to invest in Beijing and expand their presence in China for win-win development.
Zhao Lei, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary General of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, attended the meeting, along with executives from enterprises including PwC, Boeing, Otis, Thermo Fisher Scientific, United Family Healthcare, and Apple.
