On the morning of July 2, the first plenary meeting of the Global Digital Economy Conference (GDEC) International Advisory Committee was held. Yin Yong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Beijing, attended and addressed the meeting.

The meeting started with opening addresses delivered by Jiang Xiaojuan and Xue Qikun, Co-Chairs of the Committee; Eric Solheim, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Global SDG and Leadership Development Center; and Zhao Houlin, Honorary Chairman of the Global Digital Economy Cities Alliance and former Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union. Additionally, some committee experts also delivered speeches themed on “Leveraging Beijing’s advantages to promote the development of digital-friendly cities on all fronts”, offering valuable insights for Beijing’s digital economy development.

Yin Yong said that Beijing, with distinct competitive edges in developing the digital economy, plays an exemplary and leading role in driving the development of the global digital economy. In recent years, we have continuously cultivated the market for data as a factor of production, built digital infrastructures, promoted digital technology innovation and application, and enhanced digital economy governance. Efforts in building Beijing into a global pacesetter in the digital economy have achieved remarkable outcomes. We will continuously improve the digital infrastructure for a smart city, enrich smart city application scenarios, build on the successes of integrated networks for city operation and smart governance, create a template for a new type of smart cities, and intensify efforts in building digital-friendly cities to achieve greater results. As an important platform for international exchanges and cooperation, GDEC established the International Advisory Committee this year to pool global expertise for advancing the high-quality development of Beijing’s digital economy and contributing greater wisdom and strengths to global dialogues and cooperation on digital economy. We are dedicated to developing the conference into a highly specialized, market-oriented, and internationalized event. We will fully leverage the role of organizations such as the GDEC International Advisory Committee and the Global Alliance of Digital Economy Cities to deepen international exchanges and cooperation in the digital field, thereby jointly driving the innovative development of the global digital economy.

Senior officials from relevant central government departments and Beijing municipality were in attendance.
