Recently, Yin Li, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, met with Tim Schmid, Executive Vice President and Worldwide Chairman of MedTech at Johnson & Johnson.

The output of Beijing’s pharmaceutical industry has ranked first in China for many consecutive years. Last year, the output value of its pharmaceutical and health industry exceeded one trillion yuan for the first time. At present, Beijing is forging ahead on building a pharmaceutical and health industry cluster with global influence. Recognizing Johnson & Johnson as a world-leading comprehensive medical and health corporation, Yin expressed Beijing’s willingness to deepen cooperation, share greater achievements, and jointly improve people’s health and well-being with Johnson & Johnson. The company is encouraged to expand its investment and business in Beijing, engage in collaborative innovation with local pharmaceutical companies, research institutes, clinical trial centers, and AI enterprises, and make use of Beijing’s smooth customs clearance and approval services to introduce more innovative drugs, medical devices, and advanced therapies. Additionally, he hoped Johnson & Johnson would share more expertise in terms of technological innovation and enterprise management, so as to foster talent development and knowledge exchange. Beijing will continuously improve the business environment and spare no effort to ensure enterprises thrive in the capital.

After the meeting, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission and Johnson & Johnson (China) Investment Co., Ltd. signed a strategic MOU.
